Well...I went a little further than I had planned with the rebuild, but my goal for the car
still stands at 10 seconds, and I think I might be close. Willis pulled the block and I took it to the machine shop where it was
bored .030 over, rods resized, deck honed, crank polished, given a new set of forged pistons, and balanced.
I decided with the direction I wanted to head (bracket racing), I should replace the tranny with a C-4. Bought all of the parts from
Performance Automatic to build a Super-Comp C-4 with a transbrake. Willis was thrilled...he got my old T-5 to replace his AOD
in his mostly stock '91 GT.
As one would expect with modifications of this nature, Willis hit a few snags along the way. But considering he only had short periods
of time here and there to work on the car, I think a month is pretty respectable time for getting her running again. I was really impressed
with his ability to improvise when things didn't work exactly as planned. I think the combo will be pretty solid.
