FROM ISSUE 16 (summer 2001) Full Frequency - Momentum - Gonzo Records - So I was listening to Momentum again for the fifth or sixth time, and I noticed on the back of the CD that all of the song titles are either one or two words. I also noticed that most of the song titles seem to point to some sort of plastic garden, it looks like a real garden, but if you look close you'll notice that the carrots are sweating. All of the song titles seem to confer some sort of world beating hatred, an "I hate everyone for being everyone, and now I'll write a song about their annihilation" type of thing. Problem is, when you set about naming your songs "Suffocate", "Aggravation" and "Self-annihilation" you better put some balls into the music. This disc has minimal balls. It's like if Trent Reznor turned happy and didn't want his fans to know about it and he continued to write depressing, agressive music. It wouldn't work. This is a good disc to dance to, they have fine vocals and the music does rock out in a dance floor sort of way, but let's not try to be something we are not. That's like me trying to be a really good zine writer, it won't work. I do like this disc for what it is, and I hope the band forges ahead with it's indentity of being a good rock dance band with ability, this would fit in good in between happy and pissed off.
